Health Care Supply and Demand

Although health care coverage for all may be a good goal, it can lead to other problems. For example, Massachusetts recently implemented a plan that guarantees all state residents are covered by health insurance only to find there are not enough doctors to care for the influx of newly insured patients. Other communities also are facing a physician shortage and are struggling to meet the needs of their current patient populations.  In "What Doctor Shortages Mean For Health Care," Forbes magazine tackles this topic, looking at results from the Massachusetts initiative and talking with Dr. Ted Epperly, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, about the effects of a physician shortage -- and what it means for patients.
